January is a great time to try new things. Food and wellness trends might be on your mind, but how to navigate what’s in, what’s out, and what’s tasty takes some investigation. We have details on some of the hottest food trends for 2023, and many are local, organic, and delicious! Watch the Fox9 Good Day news clip here!

Functional Beverages: Consumers want drinks that hydrate, taste great, and have a boost of health benefits, like added vitamins, probiotics, adaptogens, herbs, and CBD that may help decrease stress, promote increased energy, and aid digestion. Check out the full feature in our upcoming issue of Cultivate!

  • Sparkling prebiotic herbal or fiber-rich sodas and water
  • CBD sparkling waters
  • Plant-based and adaptogenic lattes

THC Beverages and Gummies: THC is all the rage, and many local companies have crafted products that are a great replacement to alcoholic beverages as a way to relax. All contain the dose allowable in MN. Must be 21 to purchase!

  • Sparkling water from local breweries
  • Gummies (find them in our Wellness Department)

Plant-based Everything: The plant-based trend is here to stay, with dairy-free alternatives across the store. Tastes and textures have been perfected, and the reduced environmental impact is significant! Look for options made from lentils, beans, edamame, cauliflower, and zucchini. They’re high in protein and fiber, and naturally gluten-free.

  • Nut and grain-based milks and yogurt
  • Protein powder- look for pea protein and new creamy oat protein
  • Cheeses
  • Dips and spreads

Mushrooms- Everywhere!: Mushrooms are no longer only found in the produce department! Because of their superfood status, and nutritional benefits like being potassium rich, and high in B-vitamins, mushrooms are making an appearance in unexpected places. Find a huge selection of locally cultivated fresh and dried mushrooms in our stores, year-round, and explore some of these new products.

  • Superfood mushroom chocolate, teas and coffees
  • Mushroom powders (add to cooked dishes and smoothies)
