Cooking Class with Sean Sherman of The Sioux Chef

Join us for an evening with Sean Sherman of The Sioux Chef. Sean has been revitalizing indigenous foods systems in a modern culinary context for years. According to a recent New York Times article, his style is ‘colorful and elegant, with roots in fine dining and ancestral cooking.’ He uses ‘a mix of cultivated and wild regional ingredients’ rather than ‘the government-issued commodities that replaced many native foods on reservations more than a century ago.’
Hear about his efforts to educate and make indigenous food more accessible to as many communities as possible.
Sean will demonstrate how to cook Cedar Braised Bison, Roasted Squash, and Dried Crabapples with Rose Hip Sauce and Cedar Maple Tea.
Following the demonstration everyone will get to enjoy the meal.
